Use garbage bags to sort clothing that will be donated to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Cardboard BoxesCardboard boxes of various sizes make excellent sorting tools for decluttering projects. Separate things that will be recycled, donated or sold. Keep each category in a separate, labeled box. Use other boxes to sort items that need to be stored or redistributed throughout the house. Using a timer for fifteen or thirty minute sessions can keep the task from being overwhelming. CameraIt can seem unconventional to use a camera for decluttering, but it can be the tool that inspires you the most. Take a picture of the clutter before you start cleaning. Set the timer for fifteen or thirty minutes and declutter with no interruptions. When the time is up, take another picture. You will likely be astounded at your progress.
