The birth of a baby brings a lot of happiness. It also brings clothes and accessories by the dozen. Here are ways to organize a baby's closet and maximize storage.
Babies need and have many clothes and baby clothes, while small, do tend to take up quite a bit of space. Therefore, it is a good idea to have a dedicated baby closet to store all baby’s clothes and accessories. This will not only make it easier to manage closet space but will also help to simplify future purchases and avoid duplicating something. Here are some organizing tips and ideas for a baby closet. Organize Closet SpaceThe easiest thing to do is organize baby’s wardrobe to maximize space and storage. Use a special baby closet organizer or a regular closet organizer to create specific categories – daily wear, party wear, outdoor wear, vests, onesies, sleep suits and so on. Seasonal clothes, such as, jackets and winter wear can be stored either in the closet or in a separate box, and taken out when needed. If buying a closet organizer is not feasible, simply fold and stack baby’s clothes neatly on closet shelves according to use and season. Daily wear clothes should be the easiest to access with out of season clothing stored on the top shelf or at the back of the closet. Label the shelves so that sorting and storing future purchases will be easy. Use closet rods to hang party dresses and other outfits that are reserved for special occasions. Using Drawers to Store Baby ClothesIf baby’s closet cannot be used to accommodate all the clothing items, it will be a good idea to store them in dresser drawers or the drawers of the changing table. While the number of clothes may be many, the sizes are small and it becomes easy to fold and stack all quite a lot of items into drawers. Drawers can, also, be used to store seasonal clothing as well as clothes that are yet too big for baby. Using drawer dividers or organizers will make it easy to separate categories and not mix up vests with t-shirts. While this may seem non-essential, it will be extremely useful when getting baby dressed in a rush. Use Closet Doors for HangingThe insides of closet doors are perfect for hooks to hang accessories, such as, bibs, caps, hooded jackets or a fresh, bath towel. Another option will be to hang small, pretty bags that can hold socks, hair clips, diaper pins or burp cloths. Maximizing space and storage should be top priority when arranging baby’s closet and these unused areas will increase options. Storing Bigger Items and Baby AccessoriesKeep bulkier and bigger items, like, blankets, quilts, sweaters, jackets and snowsuits stacked neatly on the top shelf or on the bottom shelf. Alternatively, they can be stored in dresser drawers or storage boxes until they need to be used. Baby accessories take up a lot of space. Use pretty wicker baskets or boxes to store similar accessories together. Label the boxes and arrange them neatly in baby’s closet. Arranging and storing baby clothes is simple, easy and definitely, a lot of fun. An organized baby closet will mean quick, simple and tantrum-free dressing with everything that is needed easily accessible. Use these tips and ideas to increase storage space, organize baby’s outfits and create a wardrobe that is not just high on the cuteness quotient but also on the space and storage factors.
