The holiday season is coming and with it comes the frantic push to get things ready. After making a list, checking it twice and actually finding the perfect gift for everyone on it, it is easy to put off getting them all wrapped. If holiday paper is crumpled under a bed, scissors are in a kitchen drawer and last year’s clearance tags are nowhere to be found, it is even more difficult. The solution is to set up an area where all wrapping supplies are in one place, which makes it simple to wrap all those presents.

All-in-one Gift Wrap Organizers

Many retailers now sell organizers made specifically for storing gift wrapping supplies. There is one for every budget from see-through plastic containers to impressive wood versions. These options work great for people living in small spaces. They tuck into corners and hide behind closed doors, and can be easily pulled out when it is time to wrap. No matter what style you choose, look for these features in a portable gift-wrap station:

  • tall compartments to hold rolls of gift wrap
  • small pockets or sections to hold bows and gift tags
  • large dividers to hold flat wrap or tissue paper
  • hooks and/or small divider to hold gift bags
  • dowels or hooks for spools of ribbon
  • individual pockets for scissors, tape and pens

A Gift Wrapping Room

For people who have space to spare, consider a gift-wrapping room. If a room solely for wrapping gifts is too extravagant, simply incorporate a wrapping area into a craft room or guest bedroom. You will be able to use it all year long. Here are some basic ideas to get started.

  • Use a desk or table as a flat surface perfect for wrapping. Either stand or add a comfortable chair.
  • Reinvent an empty dresser by using the bottom drawers as space to store flat sheets of gift-wrap and tissue paper.
  • Divide the top drawer into small sections with small boxes to hold tags, bows and other embellishments.
  • Corral rolls of wrapping paper in containers such as tall baskets and garbage cans.
  • Place a desk organizer (found at office supply stores) on the table for scissors, tape and pens.
  • Hang a peg board above the work surface. Insert hooks to hold gift bags, dowels to hold ribbon roll and small cups to hold loose ribbon. Find these items at home improvement stores.

Whether a last minute present or an all-night marathon, wrapping Christmas presents is a cinch with these ideas for creating a gift-wrap station.
