Clearing book and magazine clutter in your home.

A straightforward home organizing idea for your books and magazines is to recycle, reuse, and reduce. After you have minimized your book and magazine collection, you can organize them in alphabetical order, categorically, or according to the Feng Shui Bagua.

Book Tips

Donate (Reuse)

Periodically peruse your books and donate them. A book that no longer inspires you might inspire a stranger.

Donate magazines to schools; they can be used for art and projects.

Give them to local charities, libraries and hospitals.

Bring them on your holidays and give them to the Locals.

Lend them out and do not ask for them back.

Self help books if you have completed all the exercises and have healed your wounds, give it away to someone who will benefit from the book. Shelters would appreciate such a gift.

All high school, university and college books need to be sold or given back to the school. If you have not opened the book since graduating you never will.

Recycle

Give your favorite book to a friend who is unwell.

Give your baby books to a coworker who is beginning their new family.

Create a collage of your favorite photos and articles and discard the rest.

Take out the important articles and file them in a binder for reference.

Business and Trade Magazines use the information and recycle

Home and Garden magazines, do the craft and bring to your local library or drop off at your dentist or doctor office. Cut out the how to article and store in a binder for future use.

Nature books; take out your favorite photos and frame them. Give the book to schools to use for art.

Children books, keep until your child no longer reads the book. Keep one of their favorites for their hope chest and bring the rest to a local charity.

Reduce

Read the book from your local library and then decide if it is a worthwhile item for your collection. The library is a good place to find a multitude of information without bringing a plethora of books and magazines to live permanently in the home.

Read books online.

Borrow from friends and initiate a book exchange program.
