Most bathroom closets are small and can't afford to be cluttered with unnecessary items. Here are simple suggestions on how to maximize storage space in a bath cabinet.

A bathroom closet should be a well-kept storage space that holds essential toiletries and bath essentials. Keeping it neatly organized and properly arranged will add to the overall look and appeal of a bathroom and also, make it easy to keep track of items that need to be replenished or replaced. Here are easy ways to organize this important bathroom storage unit.

Clear Out the Closet

The first step in organizing the bathroom closet is clearing it out completely. Remove everything from the shelves. Wipe the closet clean and line with fresh paper. If there are open shelves in the bathroom, clear them out too. Place some potpourri or even, a carton of baking soda on the shelves to keep the air smelling fresh and clean.

Discard Old and Irrelevant Products

Go through all the items and discard those that are past their best before date, those that have never been used and products that were bought for a particular purpose or illness, such as, prescription creams. Also, remove all the items that do not belong to the bathroom closet but have come to stay there. This may include children’s toys, medicines, makeup items and other such products. Put them back in their rightful place.

Bathroom Storage Solutions

Once everything has been sorted through and only essential items have been kept back, it is time to review the best possible way to store and arrange. Using drawer dividers, wire baskets, trays, jars and boxes will help in keeping like items together and optimize storage space. To increase bathroom storage, opt for over the door racks or open shelves that are easily available.

Arrange and Label

The final step in organizing a bathroom closet is to arrange everything neatly. Organize items according to use and type. Toilet paper rolls should be kept separate from face tissues and wipes. Extra toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes can be kept together in a jar while small baskets can hold bars of soap. Keep children’s toiletries separate from those of adults. Label containers and arrange them neatly in the closet and on open shelves.

An organized and neat bathroom closet will not just look great, it will also make it simple to find a new toothbrush, fresh toilet paper rolls and cotton swabs in a rush. So, whether the bathroom cabinet is big or small, it needs to be arranged properly and kept in an orderly and well-managed fashion.
